Kanyakumari Special Nonbu kanji and Coconut Thogayal -Good Friday Recipe



Nonbu Kanji Ingredients:
Rice /puzhungal arici - 1/2 cup
Urad Dal - 1/4 cup
Whole moong dal/Whole green gram - 1/4 cup
Fenugreek Seeds - 1/4 tsp Garlic Pod - 1 Coconut Milk - 3 cupWater - 2 cup Salt per taste


Method:
1.Wash rice,moong dal,urad dal and fenugreek seeeds in clean water for 2 to 3 times.
2. Put these in pressure cooker. 3.Add one garlic clove.Add salt per taste.4.Pour 2 cup of water and two cup of thin coconut milk. 5. Mix well.6.Allow to cook for one whistle.
7.Open the cooker's lid and pour one cup of thick coconut milk. 8. Allow to cook for 10 to 15 minutes on medium flame.
9. Add salt per taste and stir well. Nonbu kanji is ready .Let's turn off the stove.
10.Turn off the stove and serve hot with thogayal.

Coconut Thogayal Ingredients:
Grated Coconut - 1/2 cup
Shallot - 1
Garlic Cloves - 2 (small size)
Dry Chillies - 3 Curry Leaves
Salt per taste
Tamarind - 1 small amla size

Method:
1. Put all the above ingredients in mixie jar with little water.
2.Blend well.
3. Thogayal is ready.Enjoy with Nonbu Kanji.!
